One Word Film?!

During the past few weeks, I worked on my One Word Film for my AICE Media Class. A basic summary of the project was that we had to create a film with no dialogue based on a random word we were given. I got the word "Optimistic." Already pretty optimistic with the chosen word, me and my two other partners worked on outlining the story.

Using a brainstorming sheet given in class, I quickly (not really I took my time) outlined and planned the shots used for our project. The main premise of my film was that our main protagonist was auditioning for a part in a film project, nervous yet optimistic she will succeed in her audition. The storyboard I used for the project helped me pre-visualize the shots, compositions, and angles I would be using in my project. While yes, the no dialogue and written words was a difficult limitation, the storyboard helped me think more creativity into how I could portray a story without any dialogue and written words.

How my storyboard looked like! (Page 2 out of 3)

For editing, I used Premiere Pro! I already had some experience
with the program so getting back into it was pretty smooth sailing (except maybe booting up the program since my computer did crash). Definitely the longest, yet most important part of the project. I enjoy editing so this was definitely my favorite part, possibly.

Overall, I enjoyed my project end result. Maybe next time, I would improve the story to make it a bit more engaging and use a more diverse range of shots. I am glad I got to do this project, if you're interested, the film is linked below for your viewing pleasure.

Camera Shots/ Angles Quiz!!

For this assignment, the instructions were to choose two inanimate objects to help create story. The story consisted of 15 different shots and angles all which were taught to us in a previous lesson.

Me and my partner decided to use my stuffed animal and a miniature backpack to create a first day of school storyline with my stuffed animal/plushy. By making it into a school storyline we could use many places in our school to film the stuffed animal. We made a shot list including all the shots and content we were going to film. We filmed all of our shots in the school and them put them all in a PowerPoint slideshow chronologically to create the story. In addition to the pictures, their was a short sentence explaining what went on in the scene.

I believe me and my partner did an excellent job in creating the shot list and taking the shots themselves. The shot that stood out to me was the medium shot of  Plushy getting a pencil from her backpack. My favorite touch in specific was the miniature backpack we used for the stuffed animal, it was so cute and a unique touch that helped with our story to make it feel more real. My only critic is that we could of added a conflict (Plushy forgetting her homework or surprise pop quiz) to make the story a bit more engaging. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
